The Yorkshire place which saw the most coronavirus deaths in June

An interactive map that shows the number of deaths by coronavirus has revealed that one area in North Yorkshire had the highest death rate last month.

The map, which uses data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) data, has a record of all COVID-19 deaths between March and June – information for July is set to be added from early September.

According to the data Starbeck in Harrogate had 19 deaths in the area – the most by far of any area in Yorkshire last month.

It was followed by Wakefield Central in Wakefield and Buttershaw in Bradford which both recorded seven deaths each.

Here is a list of the places which sadly made the top 10 list for deaths in June:

  2. Bradford: Buttershaw – 7

  3. Wakefield: Wakefield Central – 7

  4. Doncaster: Mexborough – 5

  5. Leeds: Ladywood and Oakwood – 5

  6. Rotherham: Lundwood – 5

  7. Bradford: Toller Lane and Infirmary – 4

  8. Doncaster: Tickhill and Wadworth – 4

  9. Rotherham: Whiston – 4

  10. Harrogate: Knaresborough North – 4

The deaths occurring recorded on the interactive map are between 1 March 2020 and 30 June 2020 and were registered by 11 July 2020.

Figures exclude death of non-residents and are based on May 2020 boundaries.
