The locations of 140 newly confirmed cases of coronavirus in Yorkshire

There has been another big increase in coronavirus cases across the county.

In the past 24 hours there have been 140 new confirmed cases across Yorkshire, including big increases in Bradford and Leeds.

Bradford recorded 36 new cases, bringing its total to 5,915, while Leeds recorded 35, and is now standing at 4,237.

This is a slight increase on yesterday, when 100 new cases were announced across the county, and comes just after the Government announced plans to ease lockdown restrictions on several areas in West Yorkshire.

Only one death has been recorded at a Yorkshire hospital in the past 24 hours, at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs services in  Wakefield, Dewsbury and Pontefract.

Across Yorkshire, there have now been a total of 2,589 deaths in hospitals since the start of the coronavirus outbreak.

  • Bradford – was 5,879 now 5,915 (+36)
  • Calderdale – was 1,112 now  1,125 (+13)
  • Doncaster – was 2,062 now 2,063 (+1)
  • East Yorkshire – was now 1,682 now 1,687 (+5)
  • Hull – was 1,602 now 1,603 (+1)
  • Kirklees – was 2,850 now 2,866 (+16)
  • Leeds – was 4,202 now 4,237 (+35)
  • North Yorkshire – was 2,677 now 2,681 (+4)
  • Rotherham- was 2,146 now 2,149 (+3)
  • Sheffield – was 4,549 now 4,561 (+12)
  • Wakefield – was 2,036 now 2,047 (+11)
  • York – still 947
