Calling all young performers! Audition in Leeds for BYMT’s 2025 season of new musicals!

About BYMT

British Youth Music Theatre (BYMT) is the leading musical theatre company for young people aged 11-21. Every year, we run numerous two-week residential courses during the Easter or Summer holidays, where young people work with West End writers and directors to create a brand new musical that will be performed in a professional theatre at the end of the project.

Who can audition?

We are looking for ANYONE aged 11-21 who loves theatre! We are looking for young people with guts, determination, integrity, ambition, energy, authenticity, generosity and a willingness to give it everything. Everyone has different levels of experience, and BYMT’s auditions are designed to support that. 10 year olds are also welcome to audition as long as they turn 11 before their production begins.

What are BYMT auditions like?

Our auditions take the form of creative group workshops led by professional theatre practitioners and are friendly spaces where we explore acting, singing, movement and team working skills. All disciplines are taken equally into consideration when casting our shows, and you don’t have to prepare any material beforehand as everything will be learned on the day as a group. The BYMT staff members are there to support you through your audition experience and the most important thing we want to see is commitment and enthusiasm!
